Introduction: --------------------------------------------------------------------- ***ATTENION WEBMASTERS*** FROM THIS POINT FORWARD, I WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING ANY MORE E-MAILS FROM ANYONE WHO WANTS TO PUT THIS, OR ANY OTHER OF MY FAQS ON THEIR SITES. I'M SICK AND TIRED OF PEOPLE ASKING ME IF THEY CAN PUT MY FAQ ON THEIR SITE. I'M NOT TRYING TO BE MEAN OR ANYTHING, BUT IT'S JUST THAT I KEEP ON RECEIVING E-MAILS FROM WEBMASTERS WHO WANT TO PUT MY FAQ ON THEIR SITE. ANY MORE E-MAILS THAT I GET FROM NOW ON THAT ARE ASKING ME IF THEY CAN USE MY FAQ ON THEIR SITE, WILL BE DELETED AND IGNORED. THE ONLY SITES THAT CAN HAVE ANY OF MY FAQS ARE THE ONES SPECIFIED IN THE LEGAL STUFF SECTION OF THIS FAQ. HOWEVER, IF YOU DO PUT THIS OR ANY OF MY FAQS ON YOUR SITE WITHOUT MY PERMISSION, LEGAL ACTION WILL BE TAKEN IMMEDIATLY. I'D LIKE TO THANK YOU FOR READING THIS, AND I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT IF YOU WANT TO PUT THIS OR ANY OF MY FAQS ON YOUR SITE, THE ANSWER IS NO AND WILL ALWAYS BE NO! SORRY IF I'M BEING RUDE, BUT I'M SICK OF PEOPLE JUST TAKING MY FAQS WITHOUT MY CONSENT. THANK YOU. ---------------------------------------------------------------- This is my very first FAQ, so please forgive any mistakes or anything else that might be wrong with it. Since Sega Rally 2 is just a racing game, this FAQ isn't very in-depth, but it will provide any information that people may need. If you have any questions, whether it be about the FAQ, or the game itself, please e- mail me at brett17@ignmail.com. Any feedback would be very helpful. Thank you for reading my FAQ. Anyways, I just got Sega Rally 2, and so far, it's da bomb. The graphics are amazing (even though the frame rate does drop a little,) and the gameplay is right on. It's definatly the best racing game on the DC. Even though GT is still the best racing game ever, SR 2 is easily the second best (at least until Dec. 8...) Highly recommended. I will be updating this soon, as soon as I get through the 10 Year Championship mode. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Revision History ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 11/28/99 Version 1.0- First version. 11/30/99 Version 1.2- Added FAQ section. 11/30/99 Version 1.4- Changed E-mail address. Please send all mail to this new address. Thank you. 12/01/99 Version 1.6- Damn! My Fu*#ing e-mail account is getting seriously messed-up. Once again, I have changed my e-mail address. Please send all mail to brett17@ignmail.com. Sorry for any inconvienience, and sorry for any lost mail. 12/27/99 Version 1.8- Cleaned up some of the FAQ. Also, I FINALLY beat the entire 10-Year Champtionship mode, so I added the 10-Year championship mode Section. I also removed the All-Cars code, because it doesn't work for the American Version of the game. Added Changes section. 12/30/99 Version 2.0- Added the ATTENTION WEBMASTERS disclaimer at the top of this FAQ. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Cars ---------------------------------------------------------------------- *Note: The cars featured in this section are only the ones that are available from the very start of the game. Top 3 Cars ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's a list of the Top 3 cars in the game, so far, in my opinion: 1. Lancia Stratos: Fastest Acceleration, very high top speed, great handling, and it's the lightest of the bunch. 2. Lancer Evolution: One of the fastest cars in the game, and it also handles pretty good, too. 3. Peuguet: Even though the handling isn't as tight as other cars, once you get used to it, it's very nice. It's also pretty fast. Overall, it's still great. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- VII. Top 3 Tracks ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's a list of the Top 3 coolest and best tracks to take your ride on. Word up. 1.Riviera: City. Nighttime. Rain. Nuff said. 2. Desert 2: Not the easiest, but not the hardest of the desert tracks, this is probably the best one to drive on, although they're all pretty cool. 3. Isle 2: It's just so damm pretty to look at. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- VIII. General Tips ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Just some general tips to help you out. - Use your brakes: Using your brakes will cause you to powerslide, and powersliding is the key to victory in this game. -Use the Practice mode: The Practice option in Arcade mode will help you to refine your skills, and help you get familiar with the tracks. -Cut corners whenever you can: Powersliding will help you to do this, and it'll help you cut your time and pass other drivers at the same time. -Adjust the transmission: Adjust the transmission of your car to your skill level. Automatic is for beginners, and Manual is for vets. -Tune your car: Fiddling with the setup of your ride will help you push your car to the max, and to best suit your needs as a driver. -Use the highest speed transmission: In my experience, the highest speed transmission is better, and will help you accelerate faster and switch gears quicker: i.e. a 5-speed is better than a 4-speed transmission. -Watch out for hazards: Water, mud, snow, and loose gravel are your enemies. Avoid them at all costs. -------------------------------------------------------------- IX. Changes from U.S Version and Japanese Versions -------------------------------------------------------------- Since I own both versions, I decided to list the diferences I've found: -The Lancer Evolution was called Lancer Evolution V in the Japanese version. -There's no Fiat Seicento Sport in the Japanese version. -The Japanese version had two different cars extra: Ford Escort WRC and the Peugeot 106 Maxi. The Japanese Version was easier to beat. --------------------------------------------------------------------- X. Codes --------------------------------------------------------------------- *Note: These codes are from the Japanese version of the game. They may or may not work. When I find the codes for the U.S version, I'll add them. 30 FPS Mode: At the title screen press A, Down, Down, Left, Right, B, B, Up. A sound should confirm the code. 60 FPS Mode: At the title screen press Up, A, Down, Down, Left, Right, B, B, Down. A sound should confirm the code. All Tracks: At title screen press Up, Left, Down, Right, B, A, B, Right, Down. A sound should confirm it. Alternate car colors: Hold the left shoulder button while selecting the Lancia Stratos, Corolla WRC, or Lancer Evolution V to access an alternate color for that car. Constant 30 FPS: Imput both the 30 FPS and the 60 FPS codes. Secret Rally Track: Finish first place in every year in "10 Year Championship" mode. Bonus Cars: For every year you place first, you will open up a car for that year. After you beat the 10 Year Championship mode, you should have opened 10 new cars. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- XI. FAQS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Q: How many different tracks can be unlocked? A: I think there is only one, which is the Secret Rally Track, but I could be wrong. Q: What's the difference between the American version and the Japanese version of SR 2? A: The only differences are that the frame rate is now just 30fps, instead of the "bumpy" 60fps in the Japanese one, all of the menus are in English, and there are some new cars,(or so I've heard...) Q: Is the frame rate problem really that bad? A: No. Its not as bad as people make it out to be. The only drop in frames is usually when you take turns around corners. Q: Is there online support? A: No. Q: How many cars total are in SR 2? A: I think there are about 18 cars in SR 2. Q: Should I buy this, or GT2? A: Well, I'd say get GT2, but since its been delayed until 02/03/00, then you should just get SR 2 now, and buy GT2 when it's released. Q: How many players does SR 2 support? A: Sadly, only 2 players can race at one time, and even that is a bit sluggish :( ---------------------------------------------------------------------- XII.
